1962 Fender Jazzmaster Pre-CBS Vintage Offset Guitar Black + Headstock w/ Case
Weighing only 7lbs 13oz and well-balanced on a strap, this Jazzmaser has a bold, balanced and ringing acoustic voice, aided by the sustain of the Mastery bridge. The black bobbin single coils both retain their original windings, metering at 8.45k ohms in the bridge position and 8.55k at the neck. The bridge pickup offers snarl and snap, particularly round and full-sounding for the bridge position. With both pickups engaged the sound has a dry, sparkling cut that’s great for rhythm work, and the neck position is in a word: burly. Woody and powerful, the neck pickup can deliver a clear chop while also being particularly fat. And flipping on the Rhythm Circuit yields extra velvet-y warmth. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster has been dialed in with 11-49 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

This Jazzmaster features much of its original plastics and hardware, with the stock vibrato tailpiece and arm, serialized neck plate, pickup covers and knobs. The Mastery M1 bridge is a welcome upgrade on any Offset, and plastics include a vintage-spec aged modern wide bevel nitrate mint green pickguard.
The Black over Desert Sand nitro lacquer refinish has been gently relic’d by Carson Hess, with simulated marks of wear and horizontal lacquer checking, and the original body contours are very faithfully retained. The original lacquer on the neck profile carve is largely worn to a “barely there” satin, with clear overspray on the back of the peghead and new lacquer to match the body on the headstock face, complete with “clipped” Fender decal.
A vintage, circa-1967 Fender black tolex hardshell case is included.
