1969 Antonio Marin Montero Vintage Classical Guitar, Cedar + Mahogany w/ Case

1969 Antonio Marin Montero Vintage Classical Guitar, Cedar + Mahogany w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1969 Antonio Marin Montero classical guitar in excellent, 100% original condition, complete with a hardshell case. Without question one of the preeminent figures of the Granada school of classical guitar luthiery, Antonio Marin is responsible for some of the finest Spanish instruments of the 20th century. Representing a direct lineage between the legendary work of Antonio de Torres and Eduardo Ferrer and modern-day classical construction, scores of luthiers learned their trade in the workshop of Antonio Marin Montero. This particular instrument is a notably early example, produced roughly a decade into Marin’s career during his first “golden era,” wherein each instrument was handcrafted by the Spanish master.

Tonewoods include a cedar top with red spruce fan bracing, ribbon mahogany bookmatched back/sides, mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard. Quite dynamically responsive and warm, this guitar has a liveliness and vivaciousness that is emblematic of the Granada style of construction. The tonal properties of the cedar soundboard result in a rich, textured quality, and while the upper-midrange is decidedly full-bodied and punchy, this Marin Montero delivers a balance across all registers, ensuring every note rings true and clear regardless of chord complexity or speed. Weighing 2lbs 12oz, this Antonio Marin Montero has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with normal tension strings and optimal action.
