2004 Fender Custom Shop John English Masterbuilt “Blind Faith” 1963 Telecaster Custom Relic w/ Case, COA
Up for sale, a 2004 Fender John English Masterbuilt “Blind Faith” 1963 Telecaster Custom in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original G&G hardshell case, CoA, and hangtags. The highest tier of Fender's Custom Shop, the Masterbuilt models are made by a singular master craftsman, in contrast to other "team built" Custom Shop tiers. This Tele was handcrafted by John English, a founding member of Fender's Custom Shop and one of its most heralded members.
A build inspired by Eric Clapton’s iconic Blind Faith-era Telecaster, debuted at the band’s premier show at Hyde Park in 1969, this unique Custom Shop iteration blends the body of a ‘63 Tele Custom with the neck of ‘50s Strat, featuring a pair of Custom Shop Handwound single coil pickups, and a gloss three-tone Sunburst nitro lacquer finish with Fender’s Closet Classic relic treatment.
Tonewoods include an alder body and a one-piece maple neck with a maple fretboard, yielding a bright and lively natural acoustic response that’s an ideal platform for the pair of handwound single coil pickups. The single coil at the neck has a broad and smooth quality with a woody, percussive sweetness at 7.2k ohms, and the bridge pickup (6.4k ohms) is chock-full of Tele twang, producing a snappy cut and plenty of treble sparkle. This John English Masterbuilt “Blind Faith” 1963 Telecaster Custom benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
