1956 Gibson ES-175 Vintage Archtop Electric Guitar Sunburst w/ P-90, Case
The fully hollow 16" wide maple body yields tremendous natural detail, tonal complexity, and treble immediacy, characteristic of the note attack and clarity of maple, but also the smoothness and warmth attributable to the hollowbody construction. The sound is bold and balanced acoustically, and the P-90 yields plenty of glassy, percussive cut and sweet midrange bark. This ES-175 weighs 5lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-52 flatwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Chunky C, measuring .890” 1st fret, .940” 9th fret
-Fretboard: Brazilian rosewood, pearloid split parallelogram inlay
-Frets: Slender “banjo,” faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 2-7
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone (replacement)
-Tuners: Aged Kluson single line (modern, vintage-spec)
Body Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Pickups: P-90 x1
-Controls: Volume, Tone
-Hardware: Brazilian rosewood floating bridge, raised diamond tailpiece
-Plastics: Gold bonnet knobs, four-ply wide bevel pickguard, P-90 cover
-Serialization: Orange Kalamazoo label, A-prefix serial dates to 1956
The Sunburst nitro lacquer finish presents extremely well, exhibiting subtle checking and 100% original with no touch-up or overspray. There are just a few small finish chips on the treble side of the back and light finish scratches along the perimeter, with sparingly little wear on top. The lacquer on the neck profile has a combination of finish loss and palm wear through the gloss, very smooth and inviting to the palm.
A modern black tolex hardshell case is included.
