1962 Fender Jazz Bass Vintage Pre-CBS Slab Board, Sunburst w/ Case
At 8lbs 12oz, this medium weight Jazz Bass is well-balanced on a strap, with an alder body and figured maple neck capped by the extremely dark, tight-grained slab Brazilian board. Both black bobbin pickups retain their original winds, and this bass is highly responsive to player inputs. Clear, deep and extremely resonant, this Jazz Bass is strung with fresh 45-100 roundwound strings, accentuating midrange presence and treble grind. The low end is broad and rich, with a woody detail and punch from the neck pickup, while the bridge pickup has more upper midrange burp while retaining its own fundamental heft. This Jazz Bass benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, dialed in with easy-playing action and accurate intonation.

The three-tone Sunburst nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and it's notably rare to find a bass this played-in, yet without any aftermarket finish work. An extra strap button mounting hole has been doweled just north of the neck plate, and natural playwear includes plenty of buckle rash and various dings and chips from use. The maple neck has notable broad flame figuring, particularly on the treble side of the carve, and the nitro gloss has been worn to bare maple on virtually the entire profile length.
The original brown tolex hardshell case is included, with clean brown leather ends, functional latches and the original handle.
