1978 Greco GO1400 Speed Way Vintage Neck Through Guitar Dark Stain, Near-Mint w/ Case, Japan Fujigen
Up for sale, a 1978 Greco GO1400 Speed Way in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Produced concurrently with the Ibanez Musician instruments at Japan’s venerable Fujigen factory, this Greco clearly takes its design cues from Alembic, boasting neck-through construction and active electronics. The GO1400 was the top-tier Speed Way instrument available at the time of production, particularly ornate in its presentation with top-tier tonewoods and a bevy of tonal sculpting controls.
The seven-ply neck is composed of maple and walnut, and the body wings are crafted from a maple core sandwiched between two pieces of sen ash. This guitar is exceptionally resonant and lively, with a complex acoustic response representative of the various tonewoods; there’s ample articulation and glassy snap, with the midrange heft and authoritative note attack of ash, translated through the original PU-3D soapbar humbuckers. These pickups are rich and full, with a particularly vocal, sonorous quality, spongy low mids, and a dynamic feel. The active electronics enable a huge amount of tonal sculpting precision, with a three-band EQ and independent Phase controls. This GO1400 Speed Way weighs 10lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.
