1979 Fender Stratocaster Vintage Guitar Antigua w/ Lollar Pickups + Gray Bobbins, Stainless Frets, Case

1979 Fender Stratocaster Vintage Guitar Antigua w/ Lollar Pickups + Gray Bobbins, Stainless Frets, Case

Up for sale, a 1979 Fender Stratocaster in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Featuring a notably well-kept custom color Antigua finish, this Stratocaster has been outfitted with a trio of Lollar “Blackface” (aka Strat Sixty-Four) single coil pickups and refretted with medium stainless fretwire. The original gray bobbin pickups are also included.

Notably lightweight for the era at only 7lbs 14z, tonewoods include an ash body and a maple neck with a deep U-shaped profile carve, offering great natural midrange punch and treble cut. The Lollar single coil pickups were inspired by early ‘60s pre-CBS Strat magic and have remained one of Jason Lollar’s most prized designs; the Sixty-Four is full of character, with prominent mids, clear trebles, and a piano-like attack. The bridge is sparkling and focused, the neck is broad and warm, and the in-between positions deliver plenty of quack and thinned-out spank. This Antigua Stratocaster benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Maple
-Shape: U, measuring .895” 1st fret, .950” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Maple, 7 1/4” radius
-Frets: Stainless steel (medium, refret)
-Scale Length: 25 1/2”
-Nut: 1 5/8”, nylon (replacement)

-Serialization: S9-prefix (peghead)
-Factory Markings: Builders’ stamps on neck pocket/heel

Body Specs:

-Wood: Ash
-Pickups: Lollar Blackface (Strat Sixty-Four) single coil x3 (original Gray bobbin single coils included, 1979 date stamps on bobbins)

-Hardware: Synchronized Tremolo with block saddles, jack cup

The gloss Antigua finish shows very limited yellowing of the clear coat and exhibits broad horizontal checking, with just a few minor dings and scratches on the back and lower bout perimeter. The gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean, with just a few shallow marks along the profile length that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.

The original hardshell case is included, along with the original gray bobbin pickups.
