1980s Guyatone PS-011 Distortion Sustainer Vintage Effects Pedal, Near-Mint w/ Box & Paperwork, Japan
Up for sale, a 1980s Guyatone PS-011 Distortion Sustainer, near-mint and complete with the original box and paperwork. Made in Japan by the Tokyo Sound Co., this rare Japanese pedal is a very unique distortion, designed to compete with the Boss DF-2 but built around the highly coveted LM308N chip à la ProCo’s RAT, with a tonal profile that falls somewhere between the two.
Controls include Level, Distortion, Tone, and Sustain knobs: when held back, the PS-011 Distortion Sustainer is warm and full, with plenty of RAT-style edge, and things quickly progress to saturated, blissed-out fuzz and full-on ripping muscle as the Distortion knob is dialed up. Pushing the Sustain control, naturally, enables extended overtone-forward harmonic resonance, and the Tone knob has a particularly wide sweep, from thick and growling grit to spitting buzzsaw splat.
This Guyatone has just a couple tiny marks on the enclosure. The graphics are pristine, the original knobs are present, and the black foil “Made in Japan” logo on the baseplate is very clean.
The original box, paperwork and ephemera are included.
