First offered by Gibson in 1949, this ES-175 comes from an increasingly heralded era of Gibson production colloquially known as the “good wood” era. This particular Gibson is an uncommon example, featuring mahogany back and sides (instead of the usual maple); Gibson briefly implemented mahogany for the back/sides of the ES-175 model in 1983 before shifting back to all-maple construction in 1990.
