1992 Gibson J-200 Jumbo Acoustic Guitar Vintage Sunburst, Near-Mint w/ Case
The Jumbo model described by Gibson as "King of the Flat-tops" is truly an impressive instrument both visually and sonically, and few acoustic instruments can match the sheer projection and power of a J-200. With a lower bout that's 17" in width, and a body depth of over 4 1/2", the tone of this particular Gibson Jumbo is extremely bold, full and even-sounding, with equal presence and power afforded each string. The maple back and rims ensure a strong note attack and treble detail, and the instrument offers a warm, relaxed growl emblematic of a soundboard that's had the opportunity to open up over a number of decades. Weighing 4lbs 12oz, this J-200 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple (two-piece, walnut stringer)
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .825" 1st fret, .975" 9th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, mother of pearl crown inlays
-Frets: Medium jumbo, leveled/crowned, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 1/2"
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone
-Tuners: Gibson Deluxe double-line, greened keystone buttons
-Serialization: Eight-digit stamp dates to ‘92
Body specs:
-Wood: Spruce, Flame maple
-Bracing: X (straight/non-scalloped)
-Bridge: Rosewood open mustache, compensated bone saddle (modern)
-Pickguard: Tortoise, floral design
-Label: White oval, Bozeman, MT
This is a crack-free Gibson, with a small binding repair on the back edge at the treble-side waist, and the gloss Vintage Sunburst nitro lacquer finish exhibits vertical checking on top. Well-kept and very clean, cosmetic wear is limited to a couple tiny marks on top at the lower bout. The smooth nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless save for one shallow ding on the bass-side shoulder behind the 7th fret that is not distracting to the palm while fretting.
The original brown Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
