1993 Collings 0002H 12 Fret Long Scale Herringbone Acoustic Guitar, Near-Mint w/ Calton Flight Case
1993 Collings 0002H 12 Fret Long Scale Herringbone Acoustic Guitar, Near-Mint w/ Calton Flight Case
A notably early Collings, the 12-fret 000 model has the same general appearance as the Collings 00, but in a larger size with longer string scale. Although it's the same width and depth as the OM, the longer body typically produces more bass and overall volume, making it ideal for string-band purists or any guitarist who wants maximum power from a 000-sized body.
Tonewoods include a spruce top with Pre-War scalloped X bracing, East Indian rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck with 12 frets clear of the body. The sound is the textbook definition of "piano-like clarity," and the fullness of each individually picked note is astounding. This guitar delivers brilliant top end sparkle that’s smooth yet very detailed, and the low end has a taught yet full bass frequency bloom that rings out with smooth, impressive sustain. It's the kind of acoustic guitar perfection that pairs the hallmarks of a vintage instrument with the sonic refinement and incredible roadworthiness of a modern build. Even the lightest strum results in incredible volume, and the harder you play, the more this guitar gives you without ever losing the clarity and structure of lower frequencies. Featherweight at 3lbs 15oz, this Collings 0002H is strung with 12-53 bronze strings, dialed in for easy-playing action.
