2000 Fender USA Artist Series Jaco Pastorius Fretless Jazz Bass Sunburst w/ Case

2000 Fender USA Artist Series Jaco Pastorius Fretless Jazz Bass Sunburst w/ Case

Up for sale, a 2000 Fender Jaco Pastorius Fretless Jazz Bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtag and “ashtray” pickup/bridge covers. Essentially identical to Fender’s since-discontinued American Vintage ‘62 Jazz Bass save for a few key tweaks, this Fender offering is a fitting USA-made tribute to the long-haired Floridian legend who redefined the voice and role of the bassist. This premium model sports long stem reverse-action tuners, threaded saddles, a lined slab pau ferro fingerboard, flat-topped knurled knobs and a gloss Sunburst nitro lacquer finish.

Weighing 9lbs 3oz with an alder body, this bass yields a smooth and articulate acoustic presence that’s faithfully channeled through the pair of American Vintage single coil pickups. Featuring black fiber bobbins, beveled Alnico magnet pole pieces, and cloth-covered leads, these pickups deliver a bevy of classic Jazz Bass tonalities, with ample midrange burp, throaty low end warmth, and commanding treble articulation and growl. This Jaco Pastorius Fretless Jazz Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 flatwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
