2005 Martin Custom D-28 JPTC Japan Traditional Collection, Near-Mint w/ Case, Hangtags

2005 Martin Custom D-28 JPTC Japan Traditional Collection, Near-Mint w/ Case, Hangtags

Up for sale, a 2005 Martin Custom D-28 JPTC Japan Traditional Collection in near-mint, 100% original condition, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtags, and case candy. Produced in exceedingly small quantities for the Japanese domestic market (this instrument was sold via Japanese distributor T. Kurosawa & Co.), this vintage-spec dreadnought features premium solid tonewoods including a Sitka spruce top with straight, non-scalloped bracing, East Indian rosewood back and sides, and Grover Rotomatic tuners.

This well-kept Martin has a crisp, immediate response and relaxed tone befitting a guitar that's had a couple decades to open up and resonate beyond what one often expects in a modern instrument. There’s plenty of classic Martin dreadnought projection on tap, with a percussive cut, full character, and excellent string-to-string balance attributable to the body shape and X-braced construction. The low end is bold and defined, and treble response is sparkling and smooth, yielding just a touch of natural compression when digging in with a flatpick. Weighing 4lbs 13oz, this Custom D-28JPTC has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
