1981 Epiphone Casino Vintage Guitar Natural, Near-Mint w/ Case, Japan Matsumoku Pre-Elitist

1981 Epiphone Casino Vintage Guitar Natural, Near-Mint w/ Case, Japan Matsumoku Pre-Elitist

Up for sale, a 1981 Epiphone Casino in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced in Japan at the Matsumoku factory, this Casino is an uncommon and notably early Epiphone reissue produced decades before the “Elitist” line was introduced, among the first Natural examples to be produced from this particular run of Casino reissues.

This guitar's fully hollow all-maple body has an articulate and airy tone, capturing both the clear note attack of maple as a tonewood and the warmth of the hollow construction. The Maxon-made P-90 pickups deliver plenty of midrange bark, with a glassy, percussive quality and broad low end growl. Featherweight at 6lbs 5oz, this Casino has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Maple (three-piece)
-Shape: Slender C, measuring .795” 1st fret, .999” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, pearloid parallelogram inlay
-Frets: Medium jumbo, leveled/crowned, faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4
-Scale Length: 24 3/4"
-Nut Width: 1 9/16", bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style

-Factory Markings: “Epiphone Authorized Instrument Nihon Gibson” decal

Body Specs:

-Electronics: Volume x2, Tone x2, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: Nashville-style bridge, trapeze tailpiece, dogear pickup covers (nickel-plated)

The ambered gloss Natural finish highlights birdseye figuring in the maple, particularly dimensional at the lower bout. The gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth, with just a few shallow dings along the profile length.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
