Not to be confused with lesser Epiphone offerings, the IGC (Inspired by Gibson Custom) series represent the peak of current Epi offerings, crafted in direct collaboration with Gibson and hand-wired with USA-made electronics. This Les Paul Custom “Black Beauty” delivers the goods with a Modern Medium C neck profile, Gibson’s 490R/498T humbuckers, and a gloss Ebony “Vintage Gloss” finish accented by gold hardware.
Traditional tonewoods include a mahogany body with a maple cap and a one-piece mahogany neck topped with a bound ebony fingerboard, and this IGC Les Paul Custom is lightweight for an LP-style guitar at 8lbs 9oz. At the heart of this Les Paul Custom are a pair of USA-made 490R and 498T humbuckers: these pickups have a wide tonal palette, with the Alnico II magnets in the neck pickup offering more chime and warmth, while the Alnico V bridge pickup cuts through with classic Gibson roar.
