2001 Clark Tyger 3x10 Tweed Bandmaster-Style 5E7 Tube Amp w/ Attenuator & Reverb

2001 Clark Tyger 3x10 Tweed Bandmaster-Style 5E7 Tube Amp w/ Attenuator & Reverb

Up for sale, a 2001 Clark Amplification Tyger Tweed Bandmaster-style 3x10” tube amp in near-mint condition, boasting Clark’s factory upgrade attenuator and tube-driven reverb modules mounted inside the cabinet (an $800 upgrade package).

This 35-watt 3x10 Bandmaster clone stands out as a favorite amongst Clark's offerings, built with premium components throughout, including robust custom-wound transformers, Allen Bradley carbon comp resistors, paper in oil capacitors, cloth-covered solid-core wire, CTS pots, Weber alnico 10A125 (Jensen P10Q style) speakers, and a resonant pine cabinet wrapped in lacquered, amber-tinted tweed which Clark masks and tapes on the inside when spraying the lacquer to avoid tone robbing build up of tint and sealer.

What makes this particular Clark Tyger stand out in a world of Fender clones is the addition of a tube-driven reverb unit and attenuator. These two factory-installed upgrades cost an extra roughly $800 when the amp was purchased new from Clark, and each module mounts vertically inside the cabinet, maintaining the clean look of the vintage style chrome faceplate, but also offering a versatility that the original Bandmaster couldn't begin to touch. The reverb has one preamp and one power tube, with a separate transformer and a circuit that mimics the famous Fender 6G15 tube reverb in most respects, most notably with the Dwell, Mix, and Tone controls. The built-in attenuator makes it easy to achieve the Tyger's sweet breakup and tube saturation at levels that can be enjoyed in an apartment, low volume gig, or recording situation where a different dynamic touch is required. The attenuator has four positions (for selecting off, -3db, -6db, or -9db levels of attenuation).

True to the simple layout of vintage Fenders, the Tyger is outfitted with Normal and Bright channels, and a basic control set consisting of Treble, Bass, and Presence controls. This setup yields a diverse array of tones, equally at home with single coils or humbuckers, delivering sparkling cleans and creamy leads, as well as old time rock 'n' roll snarl at whatever volume level is required. Even authentic surf sparkle and twang is on tap with the reverb set to higher levels.

The tube complement comprises a matched pair of Ruby 6L6 power tubes, a NOS 5U4 rectifier, and vintage USA-made JAN Philips preamp valves (two 12AX7s and a 12AT7). This amp is loaded with the original trio of Weber Classic Alnico 10A125 10” speakers, which are spot-on replicas of the prized Jensen P10Qs installed in the original Bandmaster. The tube chart is present and dated to July 15, 2001. There are just a few tiny marks on the tweed, and the faceplate and graphics are pristine.

The original slip cover is included.
