1962 Fender Dual Showman Blonde Brown Panel Vintage Piggyback Tube Amp 2x15 w/ JBL D130F, Victoria Cover
1962 Fender Dual Showman Blonde Brown Panel Vintage Piggyback Tube Amp 2x15 w/ JBL D130F, Victoria Cover
Clean, clear and powerful, yet with a richness and full-bodied tonal character indicative of Fender's Brown Panel era circuits, the Dual Showman can throw an incredible amount of sound via its JBL D130F speaker pair. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Black Panel line, this Showman has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. Perfect for guitar, bass, or keyboards, this is a versatile setup that pairs well with just about anything from the era.
The circuit is extremely original, with all of the original Schumacher transformers dating to 1962. All of the famed blue molded Ajax capacitors are intact in the preamp, an essential part of the sweet, musical sound of Fender's Brown Panel amps. All of the original Stackpole pots are present, with visible date codes from the 23rd week of '62, and the preamp features new smaller electrolytics to ensure optimal reliability. The power supply has also been professionally recapped, while the power cable is the original gray two-prong (a three-prong cable can be installed at the next owner's discretion). Tubes include a matched quartet of Tung Sol USA 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes, with vintage valves in the preamp from Tung Sol, RCA, and GE.
The speaker cab features an original pair of Fender-installed JBL D130F 15" speakers. The "RA" stamps on the edges of the frames show that this cabinet went back to Fender in '64 for new speakers, common with early JBLs, as Fender switched from the D130 to the D130F circa '63 (the latter having a wider voice coil gap better suited for use with musical instruments as opposed to hi-fi applications). A small aftermarket port has also been added to the original baffle.
The original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth are present, and the tube chart is partially intact inside the head cabinet. Both original dogbone handles are present (and unbroken), and stock hardware includes the original tilt-back legs, piggyback clip bars, thumbscrews, corners, and flat Fender logos. The Brown Panel faceplate is very clean, with a full complement of original cream barrel knobs.
The cabinet comes with a Victoria Luggage cover, and the original speaker cable is included.
