2025 Gibson Custom 1929 Nick Lucas Special Murphy Lab Light Aged Argentine Grey, Mint w/ Case, CoA
2025 Gibson Custom 1929 Nick Lucas Special Murphy Lab Light Aged Argentine Grey, Mint w/ Case, CoA
Tom Murphy, the Master Artisan and namesake of Gibson's Murphy Lab, was central to the creation of the Gibson Custom Shop and personally developed the various processes on display for aging the finish and hardware. With a quarter century in the saddle, Murphy is a celebrated authority for replicating the character of vintage instruments on the canvas of newly-created guitars.
This Murphy Lab iteration of the Nick Lucas Special features a thermally aged red spruce top with traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, mahogany back/sides, mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fingerboard, with 12 frets clear of the body and vintage-spec appointments like a “The Gibson” headstock logo, open-slot rectangular bridge, gold sparkle purfling/soundhole rosette, and an Argentine Grey nitro lacquer finish with Light Aging. Despite its relatively narrow waist and shoulders, this Nick Lucas Special offers plenty of power via its impressive depth; broad, balanced, and clear in all registers. Cutting and clear when needed, and providing ample warmth with a soft strum, this guitar is very well-suited for fingerpicking, flatpicking, and rhythm applications. Weighing 3lbs 7oz, this Custom 1929 Nick Lucas Special has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
