1983 Fender JV '62 Telecaster Custom TL62B-65 Sunburst 100% Original, Japan MIJ Fujigen

Up for sale, a 1983 Fender “JV” Telecaster Custom '62 reissue model TL62B-65 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced in the second year of Fender Japan production, this rare model was made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and select international territories as part of the "Japanese Vintage" (JV) line which only lasted from 1982-84.

Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, offering a resonant, balanced acoustic platform with detailed midrange, notable breadth and clear note attack; qualities faithfully captured by the pickup pair. The bridge pickup features a brass baseplate, black fiber bobbin, and flush-mounted Alnico pole pieces, delivering dynamic, chewy twang. Both pickups have push-back cloth-covered leads, and the neck pickup has ideal fullness and bell-like top end. This Telecaster Custom TL62B-65 weighs 7lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .830” 1st fret, .915” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood slab, vintage-spec 7 ¼” radius, dot inlay
-Frets: Slender, leveled/crowned, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 ½”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style, Gotoh
-Serialization: “Made in Japan,” JV-prefix (bridge base)
-Factory Markings: Neck heel pencil dated 5-10-83

Body Specs:

-Wood: Alder
-Pickups: TL-Vintage black bobbin single coil x2

-Harness: Japanese pots date to March, 1983
-Hardware: “Pat. Pend” bridge with spiral (threaded) saddles, flat-top knurled knobs

The gloss three-tone Sunburst finish is dark and rich, emblematic of certain “target burst” finishes seen circa 1961 on select Fenders, framed on both sides by cream binding. There is minor finish chipping along the lower bout body edge, a decent-sized ding adjacent to the input jack and various small dings and finish scratches consistent with decades of careful use. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean, with just a few shallow marks.

The original faux leather gigbag is included.
