2020 Suhr Modern Antique HSH Superstrat Burgundy Mist Medium Aging w/ Thornbuckers
A roasted alder body and roasted flame maple fretboard round out the tonewood complement, and this guitar weighs 7lbs 7oz. Acoustically, this guitar is warm and resonant; qualities faithfully translated by the stock HSH pickup complement. The humbuckers are a pair of Suhr Thornbuckers, the signature pickup of Pete Thorn, which deliver PAF-style tones with tight, responsive bass, pristine trebles, and slightly scooped mids for optimal clarity, when clean or when dirty. When they are driven, the Thornbuckers offer big, crunchy goodness, perfect for tube breakup. Pairing well with the single coil in the middle position, the V63 is engineered to offer the classic sounds of the sixties, producing bell-like highs, smooth mids, and warm lows, with a variety of tones achievable at the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. A push/pull coil split also taps both humbuckers in unison, and a Blower mini push button bypasses the Volume and Tone controls, sending the signal straight to the jack for extra kick. This Modern Antique has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
